We had the pleasure of staying in Bologna, Italy in September 2018, attending a series of city tours, site visits, fact finding, a cookery class, workshops, dinners, meetings & networking. All of which was a fantastic experience & opportunity.
The meetings with the venues, mainly 4 & 5 star, throughout Italy were very productive with our main focus on selecting destination venues, offering more than just conference & meeting facilities.
If you are looking at Italy for an event why not consider In The Fast Lane Events to help make it happen. We’ve already done the leg work for you!
Extravaganza of Gorgeousness
We had an absolutely outstanding day with a gorgeous couple celebrating their wedding in Saltburn on Friday 7th September 2018.
Although we don’t normally organise weddings, we were recommended to Vicky & Simon, to assist with their big day on planning, coordinating & managing the day & evening events. The lovely couple have been an absolute pleasure to work with & had lots of fun ideas for their family & friends to enjoy, and take part in.
During the daytime guests were transported to the lower promenade by the Saltburn Cliff Tramway, enjoyed fizz with fish & chips canapes provided by The Seaview Restaurant at the ‘Victoria’ beach hut, spent time in the amusement arcade on the pier with a gifted bag of coins to play on the slot machines, witnessed a blessing & hand tying ceremony at the end of the pier escorted by a fiddler, travelled by the Saltburn Miniature Railway to the valley gardens where they were treated to Pimms & cakes with a folk band for entertainment at Saltburn Valley Gardens Tea Rooms.
On the evening at the Earthbeat Centre the guests were entertained by the glamorous Whippet Up street theatre ensemble, received a glass of fizz from Nickynoo Quirky Mobile Bars, serenaded by vintage singer Claire Louise, wowed by floral displays from The Countryside Florist, enjoyed a delicious meal from Elaine Swift Catering & her team and enjoyed a beautiful set from Sarah Paterson – Harpist, before joining the happy couple on the dance floor.
A totally amazing ‘Extravaganza of Gorgeousness’ & so much fun to be involved with. Thank you to Simon & Vicky for letting us be part of their special day, and a big thanks to all of the suppliers involved.
Still very much alive & kicking!
You will have course heard me talk a lot about Fast Lane Business Networking of late, and I now seem to be known as the ‘networking person’ to speak to, which is great. But Fast Lane Business Networking is an event brought to you by my main business which is In The Fast Lane Events.
For those that don’t know In The Fast Lane Events is an established event planning/management business working with startups, SME’s & corporates on a wide range of events, such as new business launches, new product launches, expos, team building, AGM’s, corporate dinners, and of course networking. Working with companies to listen & understand what they would like to achieve from holding an event, helping them plan, organise & manage that event too. An event in turn is also great for marketing your business to a wider audience, and to help you stand out from your competitors.
The venues that we have access to are not just in the North East, where we are based, we have over the years built up connections with venues throughout the UK and abroad. You may not realise that event organisers, more often then not, are given preferential rates at venues, which is worth considering when thinking about organising an event for your business.
We also offer a venue finding service & consultancy, so if you would like to plan & arrange your own event, we will still be more than happy to assist.
Remember an event doesn’t need to be expensive, but it does need to be effective!
If you would like to hear how In The Fast Lane Events can help your business be sure to give us a call or drop us an email, we’ll be more than happy to chat.
In The Fast Lane Events – Your Number One Formula for Event Planning
Fast Lane Business Networking
The first meeting for Fast Lane Business Networking was held at The Curing House in Middlesbrough on Tuesday 6th September to coincide with the end of the school holidays, and for many small businesses the first week back to work. Charcuterie & Connections was an opportunity for local businesses to take their lunch away from the office, and enjoy some great food with some great people & have great conversations. With a specially devised menu to cater for meat & non meat eaters the food went down a storm along with the format of the event.
The feedback has been amazing, with comments such as:
“the best networking event I’ve ever attended”
“I was massively impressed with quality of food. The coffee was great too!”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the event and felt that I had the opportunity to make a good number of connections. I will definitely be going again”
“It was something different, a bit more “up market” but still affordable”
“I really enjoyed the event, well done”
To wet your appetite further, you can see some of the food & photographs from the inaugural meeting at the end of this post, by checking out facebook, and giving us a follow, also follow us on twitter @Fast LaneBusNet too!
Bookings are coming in for the October event, to be held on Tuesday 11th October from 12 noon, again at The Curing House on Bedford Street in Middlesbrough. It’s advanced bookings only, and you can book your place here

Premier Home Expo Returns
Teesside’s premier home expo returns to the Riverside stadium in Middlesbrough, with an unrivalled showcase making dreams a reality for North East homeowners.
Keen to build on the success of 2015, the expo has expanded further, after the feedback from visitors who visited the inaugural event held last year. The North East Home Expo gives visitors the opportunity to chat informally with professionals from the build, design & interior businesses, allowing them to meet the experts who will offer impartial advice on any issues that home owners may have with their home improvements, renovation projects, DIY mishaps, or on work they are considering in the future. It also allows members of the public to learn more about self-building a new house, an option that more & more people are looking in to as an alternative, rather than moving or expanding their existing home.
With free entry to visitors on both Friday 7th & Saturday 8th October, there will be a wealth of experience offered by the exhibitors already involved, with more space now open to interested companies looking to showcase their work. There is also a growing demand for seminars on both days with a scheduled programme of informative talks & presentations to be compiled soon. As each exhibitor is confirmed there will be promotion of their involvement on social media, along with inclusion in the expo brochure given to each visitor over the 2 days.
Jonathan Park, owner of 2020 Lifestyle, the company behind the expo concept said “For me the idea was a totally a selfish one, spending a lot of time working on other people’s houses I never really got the opportunity to meet other tradespeople, I wanted to devise a show where the public would get to learn more about the do’s & don’ts of home improvement, but also to actually get to know the person you are trusting to do the work on your house. For me as a business it’s a perfect opportunity to get to know the other exhibitors, from a wide range of design, home build & renovating companies, that I could perhaps collaborate on with future projects. We still have some spaces available for more local exhibitors to get involved, we are allowing 2 businesses from each business category which gives members of the public a choice. The predicted footfall is already up on last year with more visitor bookings for Friday & Saturday. Our aim is to make homeowners dream home visions a reality”
The expo is looking to grow further over the next 5 years, building on the relationship with Middlesbrough Football Club and the wide range of exhibitors that are now finding the expo a great marketing opportunity, with valuable leads created on the day, and further enquiries afterwards.
